Our guest for this episode is Kristofer Voyles. He participated in many sports as a youth including football, basketball, baseball, soccer, bmx racing, track, and wrestling. Presently he is coaching youth soccer and basketball.
This episode provides parents with the many reasons that youth sports helps develop Childhood Fitness. We first talk about how sports can help kids mentaly. It helps kids learn about teamwork and tenacity. It gives them a sense of community. Youth Sports helps give kids convidence and is associated with children having less anxiety and depression.
This episode focuses mainly on the physical benifits of youth sports. First of all it gets kids moving and moving is key. Sports help parents to prioritize fitness by having practices and games that are scheduled. Also organized sports can provide equiptment that kids may not otherwise be able to use. Sports helps kids develop skills that they will retain through out their life and be able to use as adults to continue to be active.
Playing multiple sports can help kids cross train and benifit each sport. Being involved with multiple sports can also help with kids enjoyment and may prevernt burn out.
Youth sports can help develop endurance by having kids that practice for 1-2 hours.
In the end youth sports should be about fun so kids have a good experience and will want to continue the sport as long as possible and maybe into adulthood.
